Aloha Steemians,

I just read a two day old post titled “work for passion vs work for money” by @khaleelkazi
which made me think about why I am here writing on the Steem blockchain.

I have a business, which has been my passion, my life’s work and my way of giving value back to this world for many years. I have observed that many who started in this business the same time as me, and some who started after me, have left the business, because to them it was work, a job and to them, it brought no joy.
I often share a meal and drink with them, and they always ask me why I still toil in my profession?!

I always reply that although it seems like work, it is my one of my passions, and the way I give back. They usually remark that it’s hard work and lament that I work “so hard”. But while it looks like work on the outside, and it feels like work on the inside too LOL, it is my passion, so I don’t dread going to work.

It seems that as the old saying goes, if you are blessed enough to do what you love as a vocation, it will not seem like work, and you will be truly happy.

This brings us finally to Steem and this blockchain, as my second passion is to learn and to teach via writing, another of my joys. I understand that Steem as an investment has not performed that well. Which is perhaps an understatement considering the number of people who are “upside down” here in a financial sense, with more invested in their stake then it is currently worth.

But I am learning a tremendous amount here about many things and I am also learning how to write better and teach better. So it is this passion and my growing appreciation for the innovations here, that gives me hope for Steem to appreciate and be very valuable one day.

So my answer to the question is I am here because it fulfills my passion for learning, teaching, writing and a very human desire to believe in something greater then myself and to have hope.

May you be similarly blessed.
