I just read a post by @mindtrap about his experience with Steem Tribes and his opinion of those who sell their Tokens as soon as they get them. I have my own experience with Tribes in Steemit and this is my viewpoint on the topic.
I think I understand the motivation to earn a lot of Tokens on Steem Engine tribes and convert them to Steem, after all Steemit and Steem are why we are all here originally. But it’s time to step back and look at the bigger picture here and consider how the success of the tribes will contribute to the price of Steem for one, which means selling all your Tokens for low prices and contributing to downward selling pressure just guarantees lower prices for your Tokens and possibly for Steem. But secondly some of these tribes have the potential to offer you a chance to be a major influencer on the tribe and they may turn out to be more lucrative for some late comers then Steem. And this short sighted dumping of Tokens to buy Steem may be very regrettable later on.
I also hope that people will start realizing that the amount they are getting for their Tokens now even if it’s 30 or 40 Steem is just five or six dollars at today’s prices and they would be better off hanging on to the Tokens to see if they appreciate and just buy 5 dollars worth of Steem.
While, it’s true that some of these Token projects will fail and never be heard of again. So you could miss out on that small amount of Steem. But the ones which are successful will never be this cheap again and the opportunity to 10x or 100x or even 1000x your investment may not come again for these Tokens. I think for many this is an investment and the investors here have been very patient with Steem. So we should be patient with the Tribes. Most of the tribes I am currently involved in have developers and curators working hard to build up the following of the tribe, create value and protect the feeds from abuse. If we want these good things on Steem we must support them. That’s why their called communities.
These are our communities. Use your influence to upvote good content and reward the behavior you want to see. You can only do that with stake. Please take the time to imagine what these Tokens could become and if you can afford to do so, please stop dumping and start accumulating.
